Tactile Peg board books for the Blind and Low Vision Education Network
The six tactile / peg board books we made for the Blind and Low Vision Education Network last year proved so popular we were recently asked to make six more. By up-cycling offcuts from other projects we were pleased to be able to keep costs to a minimum.
Pegboard books are a multi-sensory resource used to support learners with complex needs. Each book has six pages that that can be filled with tactile materials for students to explore, sounds to activate, and bright visual elements that capture attention.
"They’re a wonderful way for children to experience stories and concepts in a way that feels accessible, enjoyable, and confidence building" said Ellen Buith form BLENNZ who approached us to make the books.
The books are destined to be used at The Wilson School and other BLENNZ locations around the country.
We also made a replacement puzzle piece for a a teaching aid that was lost five years ago. “After using the puzzle for five years with a piece missing it’s so good to have it complete again.
Thank you Devonport Community Workshop!"
Cheers, Ellen Buith
