About ...

Originally from Devonport, Tony grew up on the North Shore, attending Westlake Boys High School before enlisting in the NZ Army and enrolling in the office training school at the Royal Military College in Duntroon, Canberra.  Upon graduation, Tony went on to serve with the NZ Army in NZ and overseas for the next 20 years until retiring with the rank of Lt Colonel and re-entering civilian life.

Tony developed his woodworking skills at the Army Hobby Hut in Waiuru where he built many pieces of furniture for his home.  Once out of the army, and when it was still possible to do so, Tony built two homes for his family from the ground up, first in Beach Haven and later in Takapuna.

Tony only recently discovered the Devonport Community Workshop @ The Claystore when the guys at Devonport Timber sent him over to get some timber cut to size.  Enjoying the experience and liking the community focus of the workshop he quickly signed on as a volunteer and is now a Trustee and the DCW Secretary, taking over from George Francis-Crook.

Outside of The Claystore Tony is still involved in a lot of DIY, mainly at one of his children’s places these days, and has a small, mostly hand tool workshop in his garage.
